Headed West
We headed West on Saturday morning. Traffic in Knoxville is usually pretty bad but we were lucky and it was light. Nashville was ok and we made it to our first overnight CG. Sunday morning we left early with St. Louis and Kansas City on our route.
Well St. Louis roads were absolutely a mess. Google routing got us on the wrong road! Making a U turn with a 40’ Motorhome towing a car is not EASY. That’s when Meriwether Lewis and William Clark came to whisper in my ear and got us headed in the right direction.
We spent Sunday night in Nebraska City and Monday morning we headed to Interior, South Dakota to spend a day in Badlands National Park.
We saw many famous American names on our travels. Davy Crockett, Andrew Jackson, Alvin York, Harry Truman Abe Lincoln and of course Lewis and Clark.
Crossing middle America is eye opening. Huge Farms on both sides of the highway and monster tractors and farm machinery. Flooding was very evident as many rivers were rushing brown nasty looking water and many pastures with standing water.
We have traveled 1500 + miles so far and except for the big cities traffic has been very light.
